Gosh! I should be snoring by now. It’s almost 2 in the morning but this mind of mine is stuck with a song. I’m suffering from this last song syndrome (LSS) thing, right?  "After All" by Peter Cetera keeps playing in my head. It’s a good song alright, but I’m dying to put myself to slumber. A friend played it in her car… brought back "good" memories… so now, I can’t get it out of my head. I keep singing the chorus part and the worst part is… I am subconsciously humming it!

I guess all of us have our personal "demonic" tunes that get stuck in our heads. This phenomenon, also known as "earworm" in Germany and also "stupid lyric syndrome" in other countries, exists because there are these songs that are relatively simple, repetitive and contain an element that surprises us listeners. It isn’t dangerous because the song I’ve listened to isn’t that pathetic, crappy, albeit catchy song ever.

"This is the first (thing I remember)

Now it’s the last (thing left on my mind)

Afraid of the dark (do you hear me whisper)

An empty heart (replaced with paranoia)

Where do we go ( life’s temporary)

            ………………………………………."

I would like to share this song to you:
    BUKIDNON MY HOME

    Wherever I may roam,
    The distant land to see.
I longed to go back soon
    To sweet Bukidnon home.
Where lovely mountains high, With forest old and grand.
Bring back the memories, the home I longed to see.

DEar my heart, yearns to be. In far away Bukidnon land. And theres blue, starry skies Where LOVE and JOY.
    NEVER DIES.

We always sing this in school during the flag ceremony after the Pambansang Awit.

I don’t know why I love it. Taga BUNDOK ako kaya siguro, if you hear the tune and melody you will love it too.

If we love the song and hit us hard, we surely be humming it all day long.

When I was babysitting, I used to sing the same song for the twins to sleep, until they were 5 years old, one asked why I still kept singing the same old song.

Its the song I used to sing for my own daughter, whom I left behind for greener pasture. Singing makes me feel I’m near/with her, it made me happy, made me sad, it made me strong too. Its our only connection, ikf you wonder what song is that: IF WE HOLD ON TOGETHER.
Now that the twin are 7 years old, whenever I came to visit, we all sing it together.
What a joy to hear them singing along with me.

    Evelyn,
I love that song, too. The twins are so lucky to have YOU …. How I wish I could hear you sing that.
